Celebrating 40 Years of VECWS

The 40th anniversary of the Victorian Elderly Chinese Welfare Society was a proud celebration of four decades of service. We were honoured to welcome distinguished guests, including Consul-General Mr. Fang Xinwen, Consul Song Chongsheng, government representatives, and community leaders.

The event was thoughtfully planned and professionally delivered. A highlight was the respectful silence during formal speeches—a true reflection of community spirit.

Heartfelt thanks to our committee, volunteers, and event team for their dedication and care. Their behind-the-scenes efforts made the celebration a success.

We are especially grateful for the kind words of Consul-General Mr. Fang Xinwen, which reaffirmed our mission and inspired us to continue our journey with unity and purpose.

— Mr. Sam Wu, JP
President, VECWS

🐉 Dragon Boat Festival Celebration

Each year, we host a dumpling-making event at the Preston Centre, with volunteers preparing and delivering rice dumplings to Chinese aged care homes, sharing festive warmth with seniors. Volunteers also receive dumplings in appreciation of their support.

We celebrate the festival during our monthly birthday party, and on the day itself, free dumplings are offered to members — a gesture of care and community. This tradition honours Chinese culture and strengthens bonds, making the Dragon Boat Festival a cherished memory for all.

🎂 Monthly Birthday Celebrations

Each month, we celebrate members’ birthdays with joyful ceremonies, refreshments, games, and performances. These gatherings foster community connection and warmth through music, dance, Cantonese opera, and Tai Chi.

Often paired with festivals like Mother’s Day, Dragon Boat, or Mid-Autumn, the events blend tradition and joy, making every celebration meaningful and memorable.
